EMILY S. REIT
Emily (Em) Reit is a Ph.D. student at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. She received her B.A. in psychology and theatre from Northwestern University in 2013.
Emily studies the intersection between status, social norms, and social (mis)perception in groups and teams. In her dissertation, she explores the role of perceived social norms in the decision to confer influence to dominant individuals. In other work, she examines the appeal of ranking second in status hierarchies, the relationship between leader ambition and leader effectiveness, and how target hierarchical rank affects norm advisor preference. She uses a range of experimental methods to address these questions.
